Justus Eisenberg served as a Private in Company D of the 140th New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment in the American Civil War.

He was killed in action on the slopes of Little Round Top on the afternoon of July 2, 1863 during the Battle of Gettysburg.

He was initially buried east of Little Round Top.

He enlisted on August 25, 1862 at Brighton, Monroe County, New York.

He was 42 years of age at the time of his enlistment.
