Elvira Arville Hoffman was born November 1, 1885, in Grand Meadow Township, Cherokee County, where she received her early education and grew to young womanhood.
She was graduated from the Kingsley High School with the class of 1903. Following her graduation she taught in the rural schools of the community for several years. Later she took a course in business training and for several years was employed in leading business houses in Sioux City as bookkeeper and cashier. She left Sioux City on account of her health and engaged in work for several years in and around Kingsley.
Three years ago illness compelled her to give up work and she went to her home after suffering a severe attack of influenza from which she never recovered. Her sister, Mrs. Bert Luce, of Clark,, S. D., was her constant companion and nurse in her final illness.
She leaves to mourn her death, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Hoffman, of Kingsley, two sisters, Mrs. Ben Luce and Mrs. Clarence Barwick, of Clark, S. D., and two brothers, Jesse and Ralph Hoffman of Kingsley, and a large circle of friends.
