Carol was born February 10, 1942 in Tyler, Minnesota to Paul and J.Bernice (Kaas) Brown. She grew up near Ivanhoe, Minnesota attending country school during the grade school years, and graduating from Ivanhoe High School. Carol worked as a letter carrier in the city of Hopkins, and also hosted parties as a rep for Home Interiors and Gifts during the years when the children were younger.

In 2003 she and Arlen retired to Walker where they have lived until the present. Carol loved people, and was the glue that brought family together. She enjoyed planning family gatherings at birthdays and holidays, and used her cooking and baking skills to provide ample food for everyone. She was also an avid flower and vegetable gardener, canning produce to be enjoyed during the non-gardening season. She had a love for animals and a love of the outdoors, and always looked forward to fishing and camping. Carol also had an artistic side, and enjoyed both oil and water color painting, and rosemaling. Carol was a member of Hope Lutheran church, and a member of the Hope Lutheran Quilters and the Northwoods Quilters. Many people, including family, were the recipients of her handmade quilts. Carol will be remembered as a generous, wise woman with a servant heart, a great sense of humor, and a memorable contagious laugh. Her christian faith, strong work ethic, and giving spirit impacted many during her lifetime.
