Shirley Smith Gibby returned to the arms of her Heavenly Father on Sunday, November 14, 2010.

She was born October 2, 1928 to Leo and Estella Park Smith in Provo, Utah, the oldest of four children. She attended Timpanogos Elementary and graduated from Provo High School.

Shortly after graduation, she married Pete Callahan. They were blessed with four children, three daughters and one son. They divorced in 1960. Shirley married Robert L. Shaw, they were blessed with twin daughters and one son, and were later divorced. She married Wendell Gibby in 1987 and together they served two missions, in Argentina and Spain.

Mom enjoyed serving students at Lakeridge Jr. High as a lunch worker. She loved the opportunity she had to serve in the Mount Timpanogos Temple as an ordinance worker.

Mom was blessed with the courage to meet life's challenges. She taught her children, through her example, the value of hard work, always doing your best, and living your life with integrity.

Mom loved to read. She faithfully took her children to the library and instilled in them the love of books. Her love and knowledge of her Savior, and her commitment to her family, supported her in facing the many challenges life brought her.

She is survived by her husband, Wendell Gibby, her children, Cathy (Steven) Baugh, Jill (JC) Taylor, Chad (LaNae) Callahan, Sherrie (Randy) Morris, Ruth (Mitchell) Peterson, and Robert S. Shaw, along with thirty-two grandchildren, fifty-eight great-grandchildren, brother Leon G. Smith, sisters Carolyn Lyons and Ronna Lee. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Robyn Lee, her parents, and one grandson, Jason C. Taylor.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2010 in the Cherry Hill Seventh Ward Chapel, 195 East 1200 South, Orem. Family and friends may call on Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, and Saturday morning from 9:00-9:45 a.m. prior to the services at the Church.
