EDWARD W. STONEKING

Edward Walter Stoneking died on Saturday night following an illness of about two weeks being a complication of bright's disease and heart trouble. Mr. Stoneking was a resident of Clear Lake but has been a frequent visitor to Delta. Mr. Stoneking was born Nov. 30, 1874 in Virginia and later moved to Kansas where his early life was spent. He married there Aug. 26, 1898 to Nettie LaVerna White and eight children were born to them, all of whom are living. Mr. Stoneking came to Delta eleven years ago and for five years was employed by the Union Pacific. Six years ago, the family came to Clear Lake and own a ranch there. He is survived by his wife, six daughters, two sons, three sisters, two brothers and eight grandchildren. Funeral services were held in Delta First Ward on Thursday afternoon at 1:30. Clark Allred was the speaker and George Q. Wilchens and Dora Rose and Ephraim Twitchell gave the musical numbers. Interment was in Delta. Mr. Stoneking was esteemed by his friends and neighbors in Clear Lake and by those Deltans who had known him. Their sympathy is extended to the bereaved family.
