COL US ARMYAt the request of Jack's family, it is my sad duty to inform the list of the death of John A "Jack" Brissee, past president of the Wisconsin State Genealogical Society, current director of the National Genealogical Society, a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, and sometime attendee of the Institute at Samford.

All three of his children were present with him when he died about dawn this morning. Funeral arrangements are pending; services will likely be held at Luther Memorial Church, Madison, Wisconsin.

The family has not yet indicated their wishes on memorial tributes. As we have them, we will post them.

I had the rare privilege of spending time with the family on Sunday, in a pastoral capacity, as well as that of "genealogy buddy." In his own words, Jack was ready for his next journey.

We will miss him very much.
