MRS. SUSAN PILGRIM
DIES AT ADVANCED AGE

Susan Swank was born in Pennsylvania, Jan. 8, 1836 and passed away at Grinnell on Nov. 21, 1925 at the age of 89 years, 10 months and 13 days. On March 3, 1855 she was united in marriage to Croft Pilgrim in Stark County, Illinois. To this union were born seven children, six sons and one daughter. Her husband and three sons, C.M.; E.S.; and J.H. preceded her in death. The surviving children are P.H.; Wm. M.; N.O. of Grinnell and Mrs. Geo. Eastman of Lancaster, Calif.

Mrs. Pilgrim has lived in and near Grinnell since 1878. Her later years were spent at the home of Mr. and Mrs. P.H. Pilgrim, where every ministry of love was given to her. In early girlhood she united with the Methodist church and has been faithful in her Christian life and in attendance at services as circumstances would permit. Her last days were days of patient waiting with a serene faith in God. She was always a faithful wife and mother and devoted to her home duties.

She leaves to mourn her decease in addtion to the children, 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many friends who will miss her because of her cheery dispostiion and genial personality.

A large company of friends attended the funeral services which were held at the home of her son on Monday afternoon Nov. 23rd, conducted by Dr. E.M. Vittum, a long time friend, and Rev. George Blagg. Music was furnished by a quartette consisting of Mesdames J.H. Rowe, John Evans and Messers John and George Evans with Mrs. F.R. Porter at the piano. Burial was made in Hazelwood.
