Ada Catherine Funkhouser Barb,
81, of Mathias, WV, died Wednesday,
May 5, 2010, at Winchester Medical
Center, Winchester, VA.

She was born August 4, 1928 in
Hardy County, and was a daughter of
the late Charles Dayton and Annie
Weaver Funkhouser.

She was a homemaker, and a
member of Cove Mennonite Church
in Mathias.
On January 14, 1945, she married
Homer G. “Jack” Barb who died October 11, 1994.
Surviving are four daughters Bettie Whetzel,
Velma Cleaver, and
Naomi Moyer all of Mathias, and
Edith “Peach” Earls of Broadway;
two sons, Willard Barb and Walter
Barb, both of Mathias; three sisters,
Maude Jenkins of Mathias, Lucy
Helmick of Linville, and Bertha
Helmick of Harrisonburg; 13 grandchildren;
14 great grandchildren; 13
great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a
son, William “Bill” Barb; a brother,
Russell Funkhouser; and a sister, Ruby Wilt.
Revs. Dean Williams and David
May conducted a funeral service, Friday,
May 7, at Mathias Mennonite
Church. Burial was in the Cedar Hill
cemetery in Mathias.
