He was
79.
Mr. Bonig
was born Dec.
22, 1925, in
F r o s t b u r g ,
Md., to
Patrick and Mary Stakem
Bonig.
He graduated in 1943 from
Bell High School, Maryland;
went to Frostburg State
Teacher's College; and graduated
in 1950 from Grove City
College with a bachelor's degree
in business.
He worked for the U.S.
Post Office in Grove City as a
letter carrier for 35 years, retiring
in 1987.
As a very active member
of East Main Presbyterian
Church, Grove City, Mr.
Bonig was an elder and deacon,
sang in the church choir
and helped with the Tri's
Sunday school class.
He served in the Navy during
World War II.
Mr. Bonig was a member
of a barbershop quartet in
Grove City and enjoyed traveling,
gardening, playing
cards and collecting antiques.
His wife, the former
Shirley J. Fitzgerald, whom
he married Sept. 26, 1950,
passed away April 5, 1999.
Besides his wife, Mr.
Bonig was preceded in death
by his parents.
