Anna E Shaffer, daughter of Green and Jane Berry was born Dec 26, 1861 and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs John Mershon in Ackley, IA, Nov 10, 1944. Mrs Shaffer was born in Linn Co, IA, near Troy Mills, in which community she spent most of her life. In 1879 she was united in marriage to Devilla Shaffer who preceded her in death. To this union ten children were born 7 sons and 3 daughters, one of them dying when a child. Those surviving are Mrs Fisher of Miller, South Dakota; Matt of Marshalltown; Mrs Kline Roland and Louise, all of Rowley; Mrs Mershon of Ackey; Will of Cedar Rapids; Carl and Cledith of Troy Mills. There are also 25 grandchildren, seven of whom are with the armed forces and 32 great grandchildren. Services were held from the Troy Mills Methodist Church Monday Nov 18th with Rev William R Noland in charge. Burial was in the Troy Mills Cem.
