Lucretia Jane Miles Evans 85, died January 17, 1977, in Salt Lake City, at the home of a daughter.
Born June 5, 1891, Payson, Utah, a daughter of William Allen and Lucretia Anna Whightman Miles. Married Edmund Paul Evans November 18, 1914, Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died August 7, 1967. Women's adviser Utah March of Dimes; Honorary National Adviser for March of Dimes, First runner up Utah Mother of the Year, 1970, Honored by Salt Lake Council Women's Hall of Fame, President Women's Legislative Council; president Utah Congress of Parents and Teachers; president, Conservation Council of Utah. Active in the LDS Church, serving in many positions. President Bonneville Stake Relief Society for eight years; served a mission to New Mexico at 82 years of age.
Survivors; four sons; one daughter, Edmund M. Evans, David M. Evans, Robert Ray Evans, Mrs. C. Mont (Ruth) Mahoney, all Salt Lake City; Dr. Creed M. Evans, Bel Air, California; twenty-one grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Ray (Mildred) Dillman, Mrs. Jess (Dr. Lurrine Miles) Allen, both Salt Lake City; Mrs. Leonard (Ruby) Sutherland, Rexburg Idaho.
Interment Salt Lake City Cemetery.
