Eunice Honeycutt Slay
(January 31, 1925 - July 25, 2008)

"Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies". Proverbs 31:10 (KJV)

Eunice "Pat" Honeycutt Slay, age 83, of Dry Prong, Louisiana, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 25, 2008. Services will be held at Hosanna Baptist Church, Ball, Louisiana, Sunday, July 27, 2008, at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Jimmy Griffin officiating and assisted by Ron Slay, and Rev. Steve Montgomery. Visitation will be Saturday, July 26, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, Louisiana. Interment will be at Frazier Cemetery, Prospect Community, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.

Eunice, also known as Meme, Aunt Pat and of course Mom, leaves to cherish her memory, her six children and their spouses; Brenda Evers Wilks and Jesse of Ball, Leonard Ronnie Slay and Dannette of Pollock, Robert Donnie Slay and Janet of Alexandria, Shirley White and Louie of Minden, Debbie Brown Ranson and Rick of Boyce, and Charleen Kennedy and John of Alexandria; She is also survived by 19 grandchildren: Gregory Wilks, Michelle Evers Chivers, Wesley Michael Evers, Melissa Evers Mott, Ron Slay, Stacey Slay, Tiffany Winget, Brooke Slay, Nicole Slay, Jarred Slay, Chad Slater, Brandy Sisco, Damon Slater, Billy White, Alicia Head, Courtney Brown, Kerri Brown, Wesley Ranson and William Slay Kennedy; 25 great-grandchildren; one brother, T.L. Honeycutt; sisters, Polly Welch, Nelda Ganey, Fannie Hickman and Leta Edwards; and over 100 nieces and nephews.

Eunice was preceded in death by her husband Wesley L. Slay; parents Reecie and Audie Tison Honeycutt; sister, Lois Gibbons; brothers Obal Honeycutt and Donnis "Bunk" Honeycutt.

Eunice was the ultimate example of the woman described in Proverbs 31; she worked hard to rear her children in the "nuture and admonition of the Lord". She ended each day with her children with the reading of God's Work and prayer. Not only did she touch the lives of her children, she touched the lives of anyone who ever entered her home. She won many people to the Lord by sharing her faith and God's plan of salvation. She will always be known as a prayer warrior, for many came to her with their prayer concerns. Her children and grandchildren know that Meme had a strong connection to the Father. Before she had grandchildren, she shared that she wanted to be the best grandmother she could be because she never knew the love of a grandmother. She definitely accomplished that goal; her grandchildren loved her with all of their heart and respected the discipline they received when necessary. She will be greatly missed but her life will be continued not only in her Heavenly Home but through the lives of her children, grandchildren and great grand children.

In her early years, she, along with her parents, sisters and brothers, would share God's work through gospel music. In the years after her children were born, she and Wesley often entertained Gospel groups that would be ministering in the area. After Wesley passed away, young singers would spend the night with her and learned to love "Meme". She attented a multitude of gospel with her sister Lois until their health prevented them from traveling.

Pallbearers will be Chad Slater, Ron Slay, Jeremy Mott, Michael Evers, Darris Cline and Baxter Welch. Honorary Pallbearers will be Wesley Ranson, William Slay Kennedy, and Damon Slater
