Bedford – Ada Elizabeth Ritter Deckard, 88, of Bedford, passed away at 3:06 pm on Monday, May 11, 2020 at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital.

Born February 16, 1932 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Otto and Oma (Sowder) Ritter. She married Vestal “Andy” Deckard on April 13, 1952 and he preceded her in death on February 20, 1999. She was the head teller for the Bedford National Bank, now Chase Bank. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church and was a member of the church’s Merry Widows Club. She previously attended Donica Church of God for many years and was saved at a tent revival there when she was 13 years old. She was a graduate of Needmore High School where she was a cheerleader and drum majorette. She enjoyed helping others and caring for her family.

Survivors include a daughter, Cherie Stone and husband, Larry William “Bill” , of Bedford; four grandchildren, Wesley Trueblood, Ashley Stone, Justin Stone, Wendy Trueblood Miller and husband, Tim,; four great grandchildren, Amelia, Zachary, Rowan, and Lillian; a sister, Lucille Hederick; a sister-in-law, Vernice Ritter; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Vicki Trueblood; five brothers, Ervin, Ellis, Elbert, Ermil, and Otis, all who proudly served during WW II; two sisters, Evelyn Cracraft and Mary Louise Ritter; four sisters-in-law, Martha Luallen Ritter, Bernice Shaw Ritter, Ona Mae McPike Ritter, and Peggy Bartlett Ritter; two brothers-in-law, Roger Hederick and Herman Cracraft.

Private funeral services will be conducted. Burial will follow in Clover Hill Cemetery. The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the Merry Widows Club. Family and friends may express condolences at www.daycarter.com.
