Richard Raymond Blagg passed away on November 8, 2010 in New Braunfels, TX.

Raymond was born on December 3, 1922 in Brownwood, TX where he lived until moving to San Angelo in 1966. Raymond was valedictorian of Brownwood High School and a World War II veteran having been a B-17 pilot in the 15th Air Force, 99th Bomb Group out of Foggia, Italy.

After returning from service, he finished his BBA degree at the University of Texas and began work as a staff accountant with Southwestern States Telephone Company, which later became a part of GTE where he worked until retirement.

Mr. Blagg was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Rosemary Hargett Blagg, his brother Joe Wilmeth Blagg of Brownwood, and his parents, Joe and Mary Blagg.

Surviving family members include his two sons, James Raymond and wife Caroline of Durant, OK, and Robert Kendall and his wife Dottie of New Braunfels, TX, and his daughter, Marilyn Blagg Cox and husband Mickey of West Monroe, LA. Grandchildren are Heather Blagg Thornton and husband Ryan of Lawrence, KS, Catherine Blagg of Durant, OK, Andrew Cox of Iowa City, IA, Emily Cox of West Monroe, LA, Robert Hoot of Boulder, CO, and Ben Hoot and wife Laura of Austin, TX. Also surviving are sister-in-law Mary Belle Watson Blagg of Brownwood, TX and several nieces and nephews including Margaret Blagg, Bill Blagg, Mike Blagg, John Lee Blagg of Brownwood, and Charlotte Inge of San Angelo.

Family visitation will be from 9AM to 10AM on Friday, November 12, 2010 at First Christian Church. Services will be held on Friday, November 12, 2010 at 10:00 am at First Christian Church, San Angelo. Burial will follow the service at Fairmont Cemetery under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Home.
