Pvt US Army World War II.Jimmie D. Parish, 79, of Taylorville, died at 4:50 a.m. Sunday, October 14, 2001, at Illinois Veterans Home, Quincy.

He was born May 25, 1922, in Columbia, MO, the son of Olga and Pearl Southard Parish. He served during World War II and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He married JoAnn Smith on April 27, 1975, and she died January 17, 1994. Mr. Parish was a retired welder from Lee Norse and custodian from Christian County Medical Clinic. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post of Taylorville.

Surviving are daughters, Brenda Snyder of California and Clara Parish and companion Tina Morrisey of Tovey; step-daughter, Shelly and husband Steve Dennis of Taylorville; sisters, Estella Mae Simmons of Mt. Auburn and Mrs. Treva Christopher of Edinburg; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, JoAnn; son, Jimmie Clifford; brothers, Joe and Henry Parish; sisters, Marquerite, Rachel, Mary and Gertie.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2001 at Sutton Memorial Home. Burial will be in Anderson Cemetery, Palmer with Military Rites at the graveside.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 16 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
