Mrs. Smith, who worked yesterday at the music store, was stricken ill while eating dinner and was rushed to Carlisle Hospital where she died one hour and 15 minutes later. She was born on April 15, 1888, a daughter of the late Willis and Ellen Foltz Kohr.
She was widely known in this area for her activity in the work of the Grace Evangelical United Brethren Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the church and the Sunday School.
She was a member and past matron of Old Bellaire Chapter Order of Eastern Star, a member of the Past Matrons Association of Central Pennsylvania, Daughters of the Nile, Supreme Council Order of the Amaranth, White Shrine of Jerusalem and the Board of Rainbow Girls. She also was a member of the Y. W. C. A., Carlisle Hospital Auxiliary, Carlisle Band Auxiliary, and Carlisle Civic Club and the Mary Dickinson Club.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Robert H. Zeigler, Carlisle and Mrs. Florence E. Chronister, Mounted Route; a sister, Mrs. Effie Allison, RD, Shippensburg; a brother, Stewart Kohr, Newberg and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Lutz-Hoffman Funeral Home, 219 North Hanover Street. Rev. Dr. Simpson B. Daugherty will officiate. Burial will be in Westminster Cemetery. Friends may call tomorrow night at the funeral home.
