Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Sandgren Johnson, Center City were held Thursday afternoon from the First Lutheran Church, Taylors Falls at 2 pm, Rev Gottfried Berg officiated. Mrs. Johnson passed away Monday, June 27 shortly after noon.
Emma Sandgren Johnson was born July 14, 1875 and was baptized and confirmed in the Almens Ryd Church, Kronobergs Lan, Sweden. She came to America in 1891 and was united in marriage to Swen M. Johnson, Nov 23, 1891. To this union 8 children were born, 4 sons and 4 daughters; 2 sons, Axel William and Rungner Clair, along with her husband preceded her in death. Surviving are Fred of Lindstorm, Fabian of Cannon Falls, Mrs. Frida Johnson of South Haven, Michigan, Mrs. Jennie Cook of Silvis, IL, Mrs. Judith Wallquist, Forest Lake, one brother, William Sandgren of Bayport and Miss Amy at home, 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
At the services Thursday, Mrs. Edwin Johanson was the soloist. Pallbearers were Paul Linnell, Frank Bolin, Arthur Swanlund, Harlan Vitalism], Lott Jackson and A. V. Slattengren. Burial was at the Franconia Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson lived in the Franconia community until 4 years ago when she and her husband moved to Center City. She is an honorary member of the First Lutheran Church at Taylors Falls where she was active until her health failed.
