Ivy Lee Moss was my grandfather on my mother's side. He was married to Bessie Mae Carver. He lived most of his adult life in Stockton, California. He was the son of William Robert Moss and Prudence Gertrude Ivy.

He and Bessie had three children, all now deceased: Jarrell Allen Moss, Sr. of Sacramento, CA; my mother, Mildred Marie Antoné Moss, (aka Tonee Marie Hays) of Fort Worth, Texas, and Jonilee E. Moss of Sacramento, CA.

My Grand Dad Ivy, was quite a character! He was very frugal and lived a very modest lifestyle. He was a very strict disciplinarian. He was a pack rat of sorts and it was rather amusing to see his home piled to the ceiling with old TV sets he intended to one day fix. A 'hoarder' I guess you'd say. For several years he rented out efficiency apartments that were built in his back yard. He also had an old wringer washing machine in the basement that required coins to operate. He was a lovable character in spite of the stern image he projected.

I wish I had been able to spend more time with him, but we lived in Texas most of those years and he lived in California most of the time, so we didn't get to visit him often. More information will be added as it comes available.

When his health declined, he moved in with his daughter Mildred, (my mother) in Texas. That is where he died and was then transported to Manteca, San Joaquin County, CA for burial at Park View Memorial Park.
