Wilson was the second husband of Anne Lucas--she was previously married to his cousin Wilson Hunt. Wilson was one of the leaders on the trip financed by John Jacob Astor to find a shorter route for trade to the Northwest by way of the Snake River to the mouth of the Columbia River. After his return to St. Louis, Hunt became the operator of a large farm, Postmaster of the city & a successful dealer in furs.

Anne Hunt's (nee Lucas) first Husband and Father of her children was Captain (USN) Theodore Hunt born in Trenton New Jersey and Son of the Patriot Abraham Hunt who kept the Hessian Officer's Garrison of Trenton entertained at his home in Trenton the night of Dec. 26th, 1776 enabling Washington's Army to cross the Delaware River. Captain Hunt's command was the Brig "Hornet" and he was on the U.S. Philadelphia when she ran aground on an uncharted rock in Tripoli Harbor.
