WETUMPKA---Luke Lea III, a resident of Wetumpka died Oct. 6, 2010, at Baptist Medical Center, South, Montgomery, after a lengthy battle with heart disease. He was surrounded by his family.
Luke was born on July 26, 1939 in Nashville, TN. He was a graduate of St. Joseph Preparatory High School in Bardstown, KY and the University of Tennessee.
Luke was preceded in death by his parents, Luke Lea, Jr and Sara Haynes Lea.
Luke is survived by his wife of 42 years, Judith Foley Lea; children, Margaret Lea Knighton (Greg), Birmingham, Dr. Chris Lea (Dr. Kathleen), Newman, GA; grandchildren, Maggie, Will and Ella Knighton, Birmingham, Cavan and Luke Lea, Newman, GA.
He is also blessed with 5 siblings, Mary Louise Murphy, Warner Lea,both of Nashville, TN, Sally Nance, Elizabeth Crockett (Lloyd), both of Franklin, TN and Lynn Anderson, Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends.
Luke was an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church of Wetumpka.
The funeral mass was held at 11 a.m. Oct 8 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. The family received visitors one hour prior to Mass at the church.
Burial followed at Greenwood Cemetery in Montgomery with Leak Memory Chapel directing.
