Cumberland Evening Times; Cumberland, Maryland., Saturday, July 7, 1947: Services for John Holtschneider, 83, a farmer, who died Saturday afternoon at the home of his son, Albert Holtschneider, Deer Park, after a long illness, will be conducted tomorrow at 10 a. m. in St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Cresaptown, by Rev. Stanley Miltenberger. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body is at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Agnes George, 914 Harding Avenue. Mr. Holtschneider, who had been blind the past six years, was born January 16, 1864, in Germany. His parents were the late Mr. and Mrs Fred Holtschneider. He came to this country at the age of 19 and resided in the Deer Park section for many years. He belonged to St. Peter's Catholic Church, Oakland. In addition to his son and daughter, he is survived by his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth (Niner) Holtschneider, whom he married 61 years ago; four other children, Joseph and William Holtschneider, Deer Park; Mrs. Minnie McGettigan, Cresaptown, and Mrs. Margaret Brailer, this city; a brother, Fred Holtschneider, Deer Park, 16 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
