Residence Allen County IN. Enlisted on 5/26/1864 as a Private. On 5/26/1864 he mustered into "E" Co. IN 137th Infantry. He was Mustered Out on 9/21/1864 at Indianapolis, IN.

James K. Polk Shepler, a prominent Allen county resident, died Sunday afternoon at his home near Ferguson Station at the age of 65 yrs. Death followed a few days' illness from pneumonia.

Mr. Shepler, who had resided in Allen county since childhood, had served as a soldier during the civil war and was a member of Sion S. Bass post, G.A.R. and of Roanoke lodge of Masons. Surviving relatives include the widow and five children - Laura, Roy, Ralph and Rebecca Shepler and Mrs. Alex Cumming. Funeral services Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock at the residence and 12 o'clock at Zanesville.
