The funeral for Dorothy Seefeldt will be held Monday, November 15, 2010 at 10:30 am at St. John's Lutheran Church, Oakes, ND, with Reverend Patrick O'Brien officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. with a prayer service starting at 5:00 p.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Oakes, ND. Burial will be at Oakes View Cemetery.

Dorothy Jane Western, the 12th and youngest child of Ed and Clara Western was born on December 10, 1933 on her parents' farm near Thorp, Wisconsin. She attended schools in Stanley and Thorp, Wisconsin, graduating from Stanley High School in 1951. After her schooling, Dorothy became employed at the Victory Memorial Hospital for 2 ½ years. She was united in marriage to Howard Seefeldt on April 4, 1952 at Stanley, Wisconsin. They made their home in Wisconsin until 1966, when the couple moved to Oakes, North Dakota. Dorothy was employed part time for the Western Cheese Company, and in 1974 began working full time as a dental receptionist. In July of 1977, the Seefeldts purchased the Ben Franklin Store in Oakes and operated that until retiring in the fall of 1996.

Dorothy was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, and the LWML. She was also active in the Oakes Community.

Dorothy passed away on November 11, 2010, at the Oakes Community Hospital, Oakes, ND. She was 76 years old.

She is survived by her husband Howard; four children, Gary Seefeldt, Valley City, ND, Jean (Tom) Rodine, Oakes, ND, Karen (Halder) Thompson, Fargo, ND, and Dan (Bernadine) Seefeldt, West Fargo, ND; nine grandchildren, Joseph Rodine, Rebecca (Jeremiah) Undem, Sara (Nathan) Oestrich, Sadie Thompson, and Benjamin, James, Alexander, Matthew and Rachel Seefeldt; and three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Ellie, and Andrew. She is also survived by two brothers, Raymond (Wilma) Western, Wilmette, IL, and Harvey Western, Osh Kosh, WI; and a sister, Clare Mae McKnight, Houston, TX. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and five brothers.
