St. Clair - Gordon L. Carney, 62, died Monday, July 15, 1991.
He was born Sept. 15, 1928, in Watertown, the son of the late Floyd and Hazel Camer Carney. He married Dolores R. Kanaby . He married Dolores R. Kanaby Jan. 30, 1954, in Sandusky.
Mr. Carney graduated from Sandusky High School in 1946. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, serving in the 45th Division in 1951 and 1952. He graduated from Ferris Institute in Big Rapids in 1956. He was employed as a printer for 10 years at various newspapers, including Cranbook Institute printing department.
He joined the State Farm Insurance Co, on April 1, 1964, as an agent in St. Clair. He retired June 30, 1991.
He was a member of Elk Lodge 343 and Charles Hammond American Legion Post in Port Huron, the Sanilac Shrine Club, Elf Khurafeh Shrine in Saginaw and the Evergreen Masonic Lodge 9, F. & A.M. in St. Clair.
He was active in the St. Clair Booster Club. He served as an assistant Scoutmaster for the Cub Scout and Webelos and managed little League and Babe Ruth teams in St. Clair.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Catherine Carney of Holly; a son, Dale Carney of St. Clair; two brothers and sister-in-law, Ray and Marge Carney of Saginaw and Clayton and Jacquette of Los Angeles; a sister, maxine Schulz of Saginaw; a sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Mac McHugh of Puyallup, Wash.; five nieces; three nephews; and many other relatives.
Services are 11 a. m. Thursday in the L. C. Friederichs and Son Funeral Home in St. Clair. The Rev. Paul Reyelts will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in St. Clair.
Visiting 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. A Masonic service will be 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Crippled Childrens fund, St. Peters Lutheran Church in St. Clair of the American Cancer Society.
