He was a lifelong resident of South Norfolk and operated Red's Confectionary for 33 years. He was a son of the late Robert and Mrs. Lula L. Howard Hewitt and husband of Mrs. Irma Ferrell Hewitt.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two brothers, Howard L. Hewitt and Cecil E. Hewitt, and one sister, Mrs. J.D. Holloman, all of South Norfolk.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of South Norfolk.
A funeral service will be conducted at Francis A. Gay Funeral Home Sunday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
