ADAMS – John A. "Johnny," 84, Richland Township, died Aug. 27, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Dec. 31, 1924, in St. Augustine, Pa., son of the late Valentine and Gertrude (McGuire) Adams. Preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters. Survived by partner and best friend of 40 years, Doris Shever; and these children: Alice "Allie," married to Michael Kraemer, and Daniel J. Adams; and grandson, William "Billy" Kraemer, all of Oregon. Brother of Grace Davis of Hawaii and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Adams was a well-known piano tuner and private guitar teacher at Music Haven and Music Mart and had played in many local bands, including Laddie Timko Duo, JC Four, VIP'S, Corkey Cristie and the Johnstown Jazz Workshop. Mr. Adams had toured the world on 25 USO tours. He was of the Roman Catholic faith. He enjoyed music, coin collecting, chess and vacationing in Puerto Rico. He was a member VFW Menoher Post 155 and an Army veteran of World War II, where he served in France and Italy and received a Purple Heart. Friends will be received from noon until time of service at 2 p.m. Monday at the Hindman Funeral Homes and Crematory Inc., 1521 Frankstown Road, the Very Rev. Archpriest Father George Johnson. Committal, Mount Carmel Cemetery. Military rites by VFW Ritual Team Menoher Post 155. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Flight 93 Permanent Memorial, P.O.
