Lester E. Harper, 88, died October 24, 2007 at his home. He was born August 27, 1919 in Braxton County, a son of the late Jesse and Rosa Prunty Harper. Also preceding him in death were his wife Ocle Dew Harper who died October 15, 2007; infant daughter Dorotha Jane Harper; and sisters, Mamie Ambrose, Pearl Dewitt and Lucille Hickman.

He was a member of the Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church; Army World War II Veteran; recipient of a Purple Heart; and a retired maintenance worker for the Corps of Engineers.

He is survived by seven sons, Kenneth of OH. of Petersburg, Wilbert of Summersville, Everett of AR, John, Dwight, and Delmas Harper all of Sutton; two daughters, Elsie Shrum of TN and Brenda Gregory of Sutton; five brothers, Earl, Herbert, Cecil, Garl and Larry; four sisters, Emma Harbert, Ruby Eubank, Gae Krevetski and Glenora Eubank; and 17 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton, WV with Rev. Bill Griffin officiating. Burial was in the Fisher Cemetery on England Run at Gregory.
