Big Rapids - Rodney Baumunk, 35, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Big Rapids, died Friday evening, July 10, at his residence after a brief illness.

He was born Feb 5, 1957, in Oxnard, Calif. the son of Lawerance and Elaine (Colley) Baumunk and came to Big Rapids as a small child.

Following graduation from Big Rapids High School in 1975 he lived in New York City and Philadelphia where he attended art school.

He recently returned to this area.

Surviving are his parents of Big Rapids; two sisters, Karyl and her husband Bill Cahill and Bonnie Doorenbos, both of Grand Rapids; four brothers, Gary (Butch) and his wife Linda Bechaz of Reed City, Joe and his wife Mary Bechaz, Randy Baumunk and Jeff and his wife Jane Baumunk, all of Big Rapids; 14 nieces and nephews and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a brother Harry.

Services will be 1 pm Tuesday at Rogers Mohnke Funeral Home with Father Dan Aerts officiating. Burial will be in the Highland View Cemetery.

Memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or the area Home Hospice may be left at the funeral home where friends may call after 3 pm today and until services on Tuesday.
