Charles R. Willis Sr., 77, of 754 S. Eight St., died at 1:26 P.M. Thursday (July 28, 1994) at Good Samaritan Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 9, 1917, Cambridge, son of the late Kirby R. and Jennie Lemmon Willis.
Mr. Willis retired in 1977 from the City of Cambridge after 20 years of service. He was the water superintendent for six years.He was a former member of the Cambridge National Gaurd and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Germany and the Philippines.
Mr. Willis, was a Methodist by faith, a life long member of Cambridge Bowling Association and the Disabled American Veterans. He also was a member of Buffalo VFW 8040, United Commercial Travelers, AARP and the Public Employee Retiree Association.
He was proceded in death by his sister Virginia Edleman.
Mr. Willis leaves his wife, Geraldine Wilson Willis, whom he married Sept 14, 1940; a son an daughter-in-law, Charles and Bonnie Willis Jr. of Cambridge; two sisters, Velma Hopkins and Verna Volok, both of Cambridge; a grandson, Robert of Cambridge, and a granddaughter, Beth Ann Willis of Cambridge; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Sunday at Thorn Funeral Home, where services will be at 11 A.M. Monday with the Rev. Donald Fairchild offiating.
Military grave side services will be conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council in Northwood Cemetery.
