Remington- Christian "Chris" Alberding, 82, of Remington, died at noon Saturday, May 20, in Bethesda Memorial Hospital, Boynton Beach, Fla. He had been hospitalized for a week.
Mr. Alberding worked at the Remington Elevator for 38 years, and he served on the Remington Volnteer Fire department for 23 years, 15 years as fire chief.
Born Aug. 16, 1912, in Remington, he graduated from Remington High School in 1930. He married Martha Reed on March 16, 1939. She died Jan. 2, 1987. He married Esther Woodruff on June 3, 1989, in Remington. She survives.
Mr. Alberding was a member of the Presbyterian Church and Masonic Lodge 351, both in Remington, the Scottish Rite of Indianapolis and Remington and Rensselaer bowling leagues. He was still an avid bowler.
Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Jill Alberding of Augusta, Ga.; five sons, Joe Alberding of Richland, Mich., Thomas Alberding of Kirklin, Lyle Alberding of Muscatine, Iowa, Stephen Alberding of North Salem and John Alberding of South St. Paul, Minn.; five stepchildren, Jynell Jackson and Rhonda Frye, both of Indianapolis, Sharon Newmark of Nobelsville, Leanne Stowell of Lake Worth, Fla., and Jon Woodruff of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and a sister, Margaret Arbuckle of Remington.
