She was preceded in death by her mom, Sarah Frances Cannaday (1970); dad, John Junior Jefferson, Sr. (1942); spouse, Isaac Randolph Adkins (1983); and siblings, Doris Adkins, LeRoyie Jefferson and Floyd Jefferson.
She is survived by her sister, Madge Adkins; brothers, Wendell Wynn and John Jefferson; five children, Betty (Gene) Jackson, Birdie (Archie) Sours, Josephine (d. Rusty) Morris, Oscar (Cindy) Adkins and Sally Adkins; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.
Momma May never met a stranger, only friends. She leaves a vast hole and will be greatly missed. PLEASE, no live flowers (severe family allergies) as she always said, "Give me my flowers while I live so I can enjoy and thank you."
The family will receive friends Friday, November 12, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, November 13, at 1 p.m. at Samaria Indian Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jay Hurley and Chief Stephen Adkins officiating.
