Lawrence C. "Pop" Beaver
Lawrence C. Beaver, age 76, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday November 6, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Shamokin, PA, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Ruth L. (Yeager) Beaver.
Larry served in the U.S. Army Medical Corp as an Aid Man during the Korean War. Larry retired in 1994 from Delmarva Power where he worked as a Lineman and Trouble man for 35 years. He was a lifelong member of the Peniel United Methodist Church, Newport, DE, was a Board of Trustee for the Peniel United Methodist Church, a life member of the Newport-Minquas Fire Company, Newport, member of Armstrong #26 Masonic Lodge, and was a member and past president of the DP&L Square Club. Larry loved spending time with his family, traveling, hunting and fishing.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Anne Marie in August 2008. He is survived by his sons: Ronald J. Beaver and his wife Linda of Wilmington, DE, Kenneth A. Beaver and family of Watertown, CT; a daughter: Ruth A. Weber and her husband Robert of Middletown, DE; his grandchildren: Rhonda Beaver, Heather Beaver and her fiance' Chris Ward, Brian Beaver and his wife Chrystal, Mary Weber, Robert Weber Jr., Michael Beaver; and his great-grandchildren: Jordan and Brianna Beaver.
He will be loved and missed by all that knew him.
Funeral Services will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 16, at 11 am at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek, where family and friends may visit from 9:30 to 11 am. Burial will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made in memory of Larry to the: Compassionate Care Hospice, 702-B Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805.
