Elizabeth June Crothers Ebler was the daughter of John Crothers and Mary "Polly" Wyckoff. She was probably born in the Town of Clarence, Erie County, New York, as her family was found there in both the 1830 and 1840 Federal Censuses. Her father died between 1840 and 1844, and her mother married William Chappel, an English immigrant.

Sometime around 1850, her family moved to Michigan, probably Lapeer or Genesee County. While her mother and step-father eventually settled in Millington Township, Tuscola County, Elizabeth and her siblings remained in the Lapeer/Genesee County area. Elizabeth married Wilhelm "William" D. Ebler, a German immigrant, in 1857 in Hadley, Lapeer County. They had six children: Henry, Lois Mary, Alice Jane, Carrie Dell, Jennie Mae, and Willis J. Ebler.

William died c. 1892 - 1893 of Bright's Disease (kidney condition), and Elizabeth died of mitral insufficiency (a heart condition) in Hadley Township. They are both buried in Goodrich Cemetery.
