Carl managed a flour mill in Minneapolis and later was the ticket agent for the railroad in Northfield. He and Ora had two sons. One died in infancy; Nathan lived to 54 years of age.
Carl and Ora divided their retirement years between their summer home at the lakes at Bemidi, MN and Orlando, FL. Carl died in Orlando at age 94. Carl, Ora and Nathan are buried in the mausoleum at Oaklawn Cemetery in Northfield.
