Carl Goodwin was the 5h child of his mother, and 3rd of his father, to survive to adulthood. His mother, Anna Pedersdatter Fjerestad Goodwin, died five months after Carl was born, leaving his father, Knut Goodwin, to raise three tiny children of his own and two adolescent step-children from Anna's first marriage. Anna was my g.grandmother Sitona's older sister.
Carl's two older sisters, as well as his half brother and sister, were a terrific help to Knut in raising Carl. He lacked for nothing in terms of his education and care.

Carl managed a flour mill in Minneapolis and later was the ticket agent for the railroad in Northfield. He and Ora had two sons. One died in infancy; Nathan lived to 54 years of age.
Carl and Ora divided their retirement years between their summer home at the lakes at Bemidi, MN and Orlando, FL. Carl died in Orlando at age 94. Carl, Ora and Nathan are buried in the mausoleum at Oaklawn Cemetery in Northfield.
