JOHN BILLINGS ABBE, son of John Simons and Hannah (Billing) Abbe, born in Enfield, Conn., June 4, 1805; died February, 1876 (or 1878), in Baltimore (Township) , Iowa. With his wife and four children he emigrated from Warehouse Point, Conn., to Iowa in 1838. He left a large estate in Baltimore (Township), Iowa, to his widow and one son.
Married (1) November 27, 1828, ABIGAIL HARRIET KINGSBURY, born at Warehouse Point, December 7, 1804; died June 28, 1844. She was the daughter of Sanford and Nancy (Heath) Kingsbury of Wollop, Conn. One account says her mother was Abigail Osborn.
Children of John B. Abbe by first wife, first four born at Warehouse Point
1 - Sanford Kingsbury Abbe, d. in Colusa, Calif., about 1875, aged about 40 ; m. and had two daughters.
2 - Guilbert Abbe, d. unm. before 1880. Went with his brother to California.
3 - Leander Abbe, d. in Lowell, Iowa, in the spring of 1874. Married Maggie Wilson,who m. (2) Dr. Archibald of Lowell, Henry County, Iowa. Leander Abbe had four daughters.
4 - Harriet Abbe, d. young.
5 - Ann Eliza Abbe, b. in Iowa ; m. and was living in Colusa, Ca., in 1880.
