Funeral services were conducted at 2pm Tuesday in Eastburn Funeral Home for John Torbet , 88, rural Watseka, who died at 10:55 pm in a Watseka nursing home. The Rev Tom Armour of Pittwood Christian Church officiated and burial was in Prairie Dell Cemetery.
Mr Torbet was born Nov 19, 1872 in Iroquois, the son of Daniel Torbet & Cynthia Ann Pinneo, and lived his entire life in Iroquois County. He was a retired farmer and a member of the First Christian Church in Watseka. On Oct 14, 1894 he was married at Iroquois to the former Emma Decker who died in April, 1943. He had been a patient in the nursing home for three and a half years.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs Florence Webster of Watseka, Mrs Frances Daschner of Danforth and Mrs Nina Browsey of Park Ridge; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, his parents, a brother and three sisters preceded him in death.
