Dale Alton Holm, 78 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Dale was born December 15, 1931 on the family farm north of Loomis in Phelps County, Nebraska, the youngest of two children born to Oscar George and Ellen (Swanson) Holm.

Dale received his primary schooling at Phelps County Dist. No. 61 and Dist. No. 66 rural schools and then graduated from Loomis High School with the class of 1951. He then continued his education at the Omaha Tech School, where he studied mechanics.

Following his education he served his country in the United States Army from May 26, 1953 until May 25, 1955.

On June 14, 1959 he was united in marriage to Mary Jane Ransdell. The couple made their home in Holdrege. Dale was employed as a mechanic for various filling stations in Holdrege and also managed one station. Dale was also employed by Andy's Farm and Home Store, Overton Sand and Gravel and the Hinky Dinky/Sunmart grocery stores in Holdrege in later years.

Dale enjoyed camping, traveling and his beloved cats.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Holdrege and the Jachin Lodge #146 A.F. & A.M. of Holdrege.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wilmer and Florence Ransdell; two brothers-in-law: Clinton "Barney" Ransdell and George Ransdell; and two sisters-in-law: Grace Schuman and her husband, Frank and Vivian Heideman and her husband, Willis.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Mary Jane of Holdrege; brother, George Holm and his wife, Louise of Sun City, California; brother-in-law, Harvey Ransdell and his wife, Iona of Wilcox, Nebraska; four sisters-in-law: Cora May Hill of Phoenix, Arizona, Alice Abramson of Grand Island, Nebraska, Shirley Ransdell of North Platte, Nebraska, and Maryln Ransdell of Ragan, Nebraska; and a host relatives and friends.
