John as born in Wilkes County, North Carolina at the mouth of Stony Fork Creek, which drained into the Yadkin River of North Carolina. His father, Andy as he was known, had a big mill at the mouth of Stony Fork and he milled corn, grain, etc. and also sawed lumber. The home and mill was washed away in the "great flood of 1940" here in North Carolina. I don't know much about John other than the fact that he moved to Montana and while he came to visit a few times back here in Wilkes, he died in Livingston, Montana.
