The funeral for Margreete Black, 95, of Tanner will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Riddle's Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Smith officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at Spry Funeral Home.
Mrs. Black died Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at home. She was born November 21, 1914.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Leslie Black; and her parents, Cleo Karnes and Eunice Andrews Black.
Survivors include two sons, Bobby Karnes Black of Tanner and Cleo Michael Black and wife Ellen; granddaughters, Mary Leslie Guy and husband Connor, and Amanda Ellen Corder and husband Brock; and great-grandsons, Samuel Conner Guy Jr. and William Cooper Corder, all of Tuscaloosa.
Margreete and Leslie were married in 1942 in Dodge City, Kansas. Following Leslie's military service during World War II, they settled in South Limestone County, where they farmed until Leslie's death in 1991. Mrs. Black was a longtime member of Riddle's Chapel United Methodist Church, having served as a Sunday school teacher and in numerous leadership positions. She was active in Alabama Homemakers & Community Leaders and was honored with a lifetime membership. She also served many years as a director of the Limestone County Farmer's Federation Board.
Pallbearers will be Andy King, Brad Zirbell, Jerry Hammonds, Jess Blac, Paul Looney and Tony Black.
