John Leonard Wiltfang was born in Illinois, April 28, 1872 and died at his home in Brunswick, Nebr., Friday morning at 6:30 o'clock, Oct. 16, 1914. In 1881 he came with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Wiltfang, to Nebraska. On Arbor day, April 22, 1897, he was married to Alvina Doeden. One son, Leonard, was born to them. The family resided at Burr until January, 1909, when they moved to Plainview and later to Brunswick. Mr. Wiltfang was a model husband and kind father, always cheerful and looking at the bright side of life. Announcement of his death came very unexpected as he was sick only one week with typhoid fever. Funeral services were held at his home Friday afternoon and the body was brought to Syracuse Saturday, accompanied by his wife, son and brother Henry. At Syracuse they were met by the relatives and the remains escorted to the home of his mother on Cook. The funeral was held Sunday and was conducted by Rev. J. Abele. It was one of the largest ever held here. The pallbearers were old friends and neighbors and were Adam Schoene, John Weber, Jr., and Henry Thomas of Cook, and A. Kabi, William Genzlinger and Earnest Holden of Burr. The remains were laid to rest in St. Paul cemetery near those of his father who died July 30 of this year. Those who mourn his death are his wife and son, his mother, one sister, Mrs. Charles Damme, and six brothers, Henry, Herman, Leonard, Eike, Theodore and Albert, also many other relatives and a wide circle of friends. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved ones.
