RALPH YELEY PASSES AWAY

Was Member of Police Force During Frank S. Jones Administration.

Ralph Yeley, 48 years old, farmer and former member of the city police force, passed away yesterday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the home of Mrs. E.H. Kinney, 617 Jackson Street, where he lived. His death was due to stomach trouble and followed a seven weeks severe illness. Funeral services will be held at the Kinney home tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock conducted by the Rev. George T. King, pastor of the First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Garland Brook Cemetery.
Mr. Yeley was born in Clay Township and spent his entire life in this county. He began farming in early manhood and for several years continued to operate a farm in the Petersville neighborhood, although he moved to Columbus a number of years ago. During the administration of the late Frank S. Jones, as mayor of the city, Mr. Yeley was appointed a member of the city police force and worked in that capacity for about four years. Of late years he has worked at times as special officer.

Underwent Operation in February
Mr. Yeley was taken ill last winter and in February underwent a major surgical operation at the county hospital. He recovered sufficiently to be out and about seven weeks ago was taken seriously ill again and since then had been confined to his bed. Mr. Yeley was well known in the county and was a well liked man.
A brother, Walter Yeley, preceded him in death about a year ago and his mother passed away several years ago. Surviving are his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. James Yeley, of Hope, a son, George Yeley, of this city, a daugter, Mrs. Howard Groves, of Taylorsville, and two grandchildren. There are also two half-brothers, Frank Yeley, or Nortonburg, and Albert Yeley, of Hope, and a half sister, Miss Minnie Yeley of Hope.
