Jessie Venona Wiles was the fourth and youngest daughter of Eliza A. (née Nelson) and Henry Greenberry Wiles. Jessie was only a few months old when her mother died, and she was brought up by Melissa Wiles, her maternal aunt and step-mother.

Jessie V. Wiles of Hagerstown, Maryland, and Jacob D. Zittle of Omaha, Nebraska were married on 24 May 1893 in Hagerstown. The couple resided in Omaha, where their only child, Ruth Malinda, was born 11 April 1894.

After the death of her husband in 1909, Jessie V. Zittle remained until at least 1920 in Omaha, where she was an organist and music teacher. She later returned to Maryland, and died in the home of her niece and niece's husband, Minnie Louise (née Bodmer) and the Rev. Harry Stockton Myerly. Jessie was buried in a Bodmer lot near her sister Carrie Melissa Bodmer.

"ROCKVILLE, Md., April 11 (Special).—Following an illness of several months, Mrs. Jessie V. Zittle, widow of Jacob D. Zittle, died Tuesday night at the home of Rev. and Mrs. H. Stockton Myerly, at Colesville. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Forest Burgess of Chicago, and two sisters, Mrs. Jacob Bodmer of Poolesville and Mrs. J. W. Bayhoff [sic ] of Mount Rainier, Md. The funeral will take place this afternoon from the home of Rev. and Mrs. Myerly, burial to be in Monocacy Cemetery, at Beallsville." Prior to living in the Myerly home, Jessie Zittle lived with her sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Wesley Dayhoff, at 3761 33rd Street, Mt. Rainier, Maryland.
