OBITUARY :
AGNES VIRGINIA "SISSY" GOSSARD, 62, of 16362 Mt. Tabor Road, died Monday, July 6, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

Born June 13, 1936, in Rockbridge County, Va., she was the daughter of the late George Albert and Thelma Virginia West Carter Sr.

She was a member of Bethel Assembly of God.

She was a member of AARP.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Donald R. Gossard Sr.; two daughters, Virginia Marie Shawyer of Hagerstown and Sandy Lynn Alton of Williamsport; five sons, Ronald Lee Gossard Sr. of West Virginia, and Donald Robert Gossard Jr., George Earl Gossard Sr., Dennis James Gossard and Gary Wayne Gossard, all of Hagerstown; nine brothers, George Alec Carter of Hancock, Odell S. Carter of Columbus, Miss., C. Ray Carter of Smithsburg, H. Wayne Carter of Marlowe, W.Va., Ronald Lee Carter of Williamsport, and Thomas E. Carter, Richard W. Carter, W. Nick Carter and John K. Carter, all of Hagerstown; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Carter; and two grandchildren.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Bethel Assembly of God, 515 E. Wilson Blvd. The Rev. Terry B. Broadwater and the Rev. Michael Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. and Friday, one hour prior to the service at the church.
