Bernice (Zawistowski) Drewniany Michalczyk, 94, of the Unionville Section of Farmington, CT, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at Plainville Health Care Center. She was the widow of Edward Drewniany and Zigmunt Michalczyk. Bernice was born in Enfield, CT on July 9, 1916, to the late Joseph and Mary (Wal) Zawistowski. She grew up in Enfield and then moved to Springfield, MA in 1946 where she and her first husband, Edward, owned the Cut Rate Hardware Store. In 1982 Bernice moved to Unionville. She will be missed by her daughter, Jean M. Gorczyca, of Unionville; her three grandchildren, Gary Gorczyca, Karen Gorczyca and Grant Gorczyca; her great grandson, Kyle Owen Gorczyca; and her sister, Evelyn Lesniak, of Enfield. In addition to Edward and Zigmunt, Bernice was predeceased by her siblings, Joseph, Steven, Gus and Ted Zawistowski, Alice Nowak, Irene Povlosky, Helen Szemela, Mary Sienko, and Sophie Polinski.
