She was born Feb. 28, 1911, in Morgantown, W.Va., a daughter of the late Newton Smith and Myrtle (Thomas) Smith.
She was a member of Parkview United Methodist Church, a member of the Monongalia County Board of Education where she was a cook for Suncrest Junior High School.
She is survived by her daughter, Eleanor Davis and husband, Robert, of Parkersburg; son-in-law, Hunter Vannoy of Belpre; eight grandchildren, James Vannoy, Sharon Vannoy, Edith Blake, Kendall Vannoy, Steve Davis, Christine Dickel, Karen Perrine and Angela Griffith; 18 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James R. Burke; two daughters, Dorothy Vannoy and an infant daughter; four brothers including one infant; and four sisters.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Kenneth Nolan officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
