BAXTER -- Betty M. Hayes, 83, Baxter, died Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at St. Joseph's Medical Center.
She was born May 17, 1919, in Clyde Park, Mont., to Lewis and Jane Ann (Watson) Nash. She graduated from Park County High School in Livingston, Mont., in 1937. She briefly attended Montana State University. She married William P. Hayes on Aug. 1, 1940, in Livingston. They moved to Brainerd in 1952. In 1959, they moved to Minneapolis where she worked as an executive secretary for Chrysler until moving back to Brainerd in 1967. She worked for Ryan, Ryan and Ruttger law firm for a number of years. She was a Hospice volunteer and a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church of Brainerd.
Survivors include a son, Kelly Englund, Cambridge; a daughter, Peggy Thompson, Grand Rapids; a grandchild; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Genevieve "Babe" Hare, Seattle.
Her husband; a son, Larry Hayes; a daughter, Cathy Meyer; a grandchild; two brothers, Thomas G. and William J. Nash; and a sister, Mary Doll, died earlier.
A memorial service will be noon Saturday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Brainerd with Father Seamus Walsh officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
