Florene Skeels, 90, of Grand Island died Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, at St. Francis Medical Center. Florene was born Aug. 4, 1920, at Grand Island to Henry and Catherine (Leonhardt) Stroh.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith; sons, Greg and Mark Skeels.

Survivors are: sisters, Leone Coyle of Omaha and Edna Reinecke of Bettendorf, Iowa; sister-in-law, Marilyn Rank and her husband, Kenneth, of Grand Island; and a host of friends and relatives.

Florene grew up and received her education in Grand Island graduating from Grand Island Senior High School in 1938. She married Keith Skeels in 1942 in Grand Island, where the couple would make their home. Florene worked for the Dana F. Cole and Company.

Florene was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She did beautiful embroidery and counted cross-stitch which she shared with family and friends.

Florene was also preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.
