Funeral for Gary Thomas Brackin, 67, of Decatur will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with Brady McCulloch officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with Masonic and military services at graveside. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Brackin died Monday, June 3, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Sept. 18, 1934, in Lawrence County to Richardson Brackin and Elreno Thompson Brackin. He was a retired electrician and a U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a Mason and a Shriner and a member of Masonic Rising Sun Lodge No. 29, York Rite, Cahaba Shrine and Decatur Shrine Club. He was the stepfather of the late David Devon Newton.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Rose Brackin; three stepsons, James Paul Newton of Sandwich, Ill., William Albert Newton of Huntsville and Steven Jay Newton of Brunswick, Ga.; two brothers, Arlon Brackin of Town Creek and Larry Brackin of Muscle Shoals; one sister, Shirley Reding of Courtland; and one step-grandchild.

Members of Masonic Rising Sun Lodge No. 29 will be pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Shriners crippled children and burn hospitals.
