Politician and Statesman. A native of Okayama prefecture, Inukai became president of the Seiyukai party in 1929 and served as Japan's 26th Prime Minister from December 31, 1931 until his death. His cabinet sanctioned the Manchurian Incident of 1931. His assassination increased army power over the government and ended party cabinets until after World War II.
