Funeral services were held today for Carl Jordan Spinks, 58, who was killed in a car-truck collision Thursday near Palestine.

Rites were conducted in the chapel of Wallace Funeral Home at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Jewel McClure officiating. Burial was in the Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Spinks had been a resident of the Rusk County for most of his life.

Survivors include his widow; one brother, Douglas F. Spinks of Florida; five sisters, Mrs. Myrtle S. Meeks, Mrs. Jesse Phillips, Mrs. Ann Fitzgerald and Mrs. Molly Cassidy, all of Rusk, and Mrs. Nettie Tucker of Austin.

Carl Spinks of Rusk, who has visited in Wellington many times, was killed instantly when his car was involved in a collision with a truck Thursday, April 16.

His sister-in-law, Mrs. Alton Abbott, the former Mattie Lee Royal, was injured.

The accident occurred between Palestine and Rusk.

Mrs. Abbott, who has been with the sister and brother-in-law through the winter, received a broken leg, broken ribs and other injuries.

Mr. Spinks was married to the former Mary C. Royal, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Royal, and had a number of friends here.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday at Rusk.
